About THE PROJECT

The Study Area
The purpose of this project is to create a compelling, community-based vision that guides the future redevelopment of the Arrowhead Gateway neighborhood. Once complete, the Arrowhead Gateway Small Area Plan and Corridor Study will provide the City and local community with an illustrated master plan and coordinated development strategy for revitalizing this important gateway between the Clay Arsenal Neighborhood and Downtown Hartford.

This project will build on the momentum of the North Crossing redevelopment projects, leverage existing public and private investments, celebrate the neighborhood’s historic urban fabric, and identify transformative public realm improvements and redevelopment opportunities consistent with the community’s vision. Public engagement will play an important and consistent role throughout the planning process to ensure the community’s needs drive the Study’s recommendations.

Analysis
An inventory of existing conditions & market analysis to identify needs, impacts and opportunities
Entrepreneurial Strategy
The development of small business entrepreneurial strategy
Community Engagement
Extensive community engagement to develop a unified future vision for the Arrowhead Gateway
Marketing Materials
Marketing materials to proactively encourage redevelopment of key sites identified in the study
Urban
Design
Identification of streetscape and public realm improvements to improve connectivity and create a unique sense of place
Master
Plan
Including proposed land and end uses, infill, adaptive reuse of existing structures, and public space enhancements.
